On April 13 in Gniew (Poland) was 4. european conference for the participants of the project “Digital cities for smart Europe”. EPaństwo foundation was invited to talk about openness and social media.Project “Digital cities for smart Europe” (DISCE) involved cities of La Coruna (Spain), Cuba (Portugal), Sandanski (Bulgaria), Gniew (Poland) and Calabria (Italy) and five non-governmental organizations. At the invitation of the Institute for Socio-Economic Balance – we took part in a conference on social media.

The purpose of each of the conference was the discussion on e-democracy, computer skills and digital divide, e-participation, public transport and social media and possibilities of using these tools for the benefit of citizens.

At a conference in Poland we were talking about social media and electronic channels – rules for their use and the opportunities offered in daily communication with residents of digital cities. Within the examples, participants saw how is working Bank of planting trees (using municipal data from Gdańsk), and how the new technology can help to plan consultation and participation process.
